深圳小学始建于1911年3月，由当时深圳墟张氏“雍睦堂”发展而来，几经风雨变迁，迄今已逾百年。
深圳小学占地10300平方米，建筑面积15200平方米，是市教育局直属的唯一一所全日制六年制完全小学。学校现有34个教学班，1600多名学生，110多名教职员工。其中特级教师2名，中学高级教师7名，市级名师6人。有5个学科的6名老师先后在全国课堂教学比赛中获一等奖。
学生中，有经层层遴选获得陪胡锦涛总书记等党和国家领导人到莲花山植树的机会的甄浩庭，有横游琼州海峡、创造吉尼斯纪录的胡淙泰，有在北京大学自主招生考试中取得数学满分和总分第一的艾辛，更有在市级以上比赛中屡创佳绩的朗诵艺术团、管乐团和武术社团。
特区成立以来，深圳小学借助改革开放的春风，秉承“敢为人先”的办学精神，积极探索，锐意进取，曾被誉为特区的“窗口学校”和“实验性”、“示范性”学校。
近年来，深圳小学以“办人民满意的教育”为目的，以“书香校园”为特色，坚持依法治校，坚持“以人为本”，着力提高教育教学质量，积极探索基础教育的现代化和国际化，不断提升办学实力。正朝着“把校园建设成为师生的精神家园和幸福乐园”的目标稳步前进！
学校曾两度获得市政府颁发的“办学效益奖”；学校研发的《廉洁教育读本》、《国际知识教育》等教材，开展的“素质教育的教和学策略” “多媒体组合优化作文教学实验”、“小学语文‘四结合’课题实验”、“小学语文阅读教学实验”等课题在省市，乃至全国均有较大影响。
A Brief Introduction of Shenzhen Primary School
Shenzhen Primary School was built in March, 1911. It was first started by a Mr. Zhang at the country fair of Shenzhen and has now gone through tremendous transformations in the lapse of over a century.
Shenzhen Primary School covers an area of 10300 square meters and has a building area of 15200 square meters. It is the only six-year day school directly under the Municipal Bureau of Education. Now the School holds 1600 and more pupils in 34 classes and has a faculty of over 110 members, including 2 top-grade teachers, 7 high-ranking middle school teachers and 6 noted teachers on the municipal level. Six teachers from 5 subjects have on different occasions won the first prize in the national competition of class teaching.
Of all the pupils, Zhen Haoting got the lucky chance, after several selections, to have planted trees on the Lotus Hill together with the Party General Secretary Hu Jintao and other Party and state leaders, Hu Congtai once created a Guinness record by crossing the Qiongzhou Channel and Ai Xin got full marks in math and the highest marks in total in the entrance examination organized by Beijing University itself. The School's Recitation Art Ensemble, Wind Band and Martial Arts Society have time and again got prizes in the municipal contests.
Since the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, the Shenzhen Primary School, by the spring breeze of reform and opening up and by the pioneering spirit in running the school, has been known as the Zone's "window school", "experimental school" and "model school".
In recent years, for the purpose of "running the education to satisfy the people" and as a special feature of the "scholarly campus", the SPS has been exerting itself to raise its quality of teaching and education, to explore the best way to modernize and internationalize the basic education and to enhance repeatedly its strength of running the education. The SPS has been making steady steps towards its goal to turn the school into a spiritual home and happiness park for the teachers and pupils.
The SPS has been twice awarded by the municipal government the "prize of great efficiency in running the school". It has made its influence felt not only in Shenzhen, in Guangdong Province, but also in other parts of the country chiefly for the teaching material compiled by the SPS such as "Readers to Keep Yourself Honest and Clean" and "International Knowledge Reading" and also for the topics of "the strategy of teaching and learning in carrying out quality education", "the teaching experiment to optimize compositions by multimedia", "the experiment to teach primary school pupils the Chinese language by a combination of four elements" and "the experiment to teach pupils how to read efficiently".
